Very nice! Wow! Table Mountain Pine is uncommon enough, but now a broom of one! Too cool. Did you collect the cuttings there in the mountains of SC? I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Loudoun County VA and I always look for brooms on ridgetop pine groves. I've yet to find one.

Found this one in NW North Carolina. I know, I have been hiking the backcountry of the Blue Ridge Mountains as much as possible the past four years and have only located three brooms. They are as rare as hen's teeth for some reason.

They appear to be growing on very nicely.Nice work SC!

Yes, then there is 'Shot Put' Dax. According to Gary, who also got that wood and distributed it to folks across the pond as well, only one piece is rumored to have possibly taken. I will collect more wood this winter and distribute it to a few more people as well. Keep in mind that this is a small old broom and as such there is very little material to remove.

scpalmnut, thanks for your efforts on this neglected species. Conifer50 (Jonny) discovered & is propagating some yellow selections of P pungens.

Just the standard P pungens in my yard makes a nice tree that does much better in good soil than on the usual rocky, infertile shale slopes.

sc, I want to thank you as well for your effort in finding the first broom of Pinus pungens.

Thank you for the kind words. Come January, I will try to go and collect more wood as there is plenty of this one to go around. Switching to a different broom, didn't you get some of the Picea Rubens 'Shot Put' wood as well from Gary?
