This made me go find that newsletter on PDN's website. (http://www.plantdelights.com/November/products/967/) What's the point of the gossip about the former Director of a PHS garden? I've never appreciated his "sense of humor". Anyhow it's not that new of a book. It came out early last year. The Dendropress Conifers Around the World book is a greater achievement for a variety of reasons.
"What do you graft it onto?" "Pseudotsuga menziesii"
Hmmm - not a good choice, only distantly related. If it survives for the next year, then take some scions from it and graft onto Keteleeria or Tsuga, or perhaps Cedrus or Abies. Maybe even this winter, with that lower left shoot.
