man you are killing me with the anticipation ... lol ...

as the crow flies.. about 8 miles to HLG ... i am as usual ... p.o.'d about what they grow that i cant..

but it warms my heart.. to see that that piece of carp.. Chief Jo ... even they have to protect it ...

and their skylands in nothing compared to mine .. lol ...

mirek.. you were looking awful close.. are you thinking a bird behind.. or a growth on the tree???

what i want to know.. is what is on the bench next to the reflexa????

also ... on the pic of the front of the building ... labeled glauca pendula.. that used to be one single .. very old aristata ...

and of course.. first pic.. i had yoshino ... for 2 years.. until i had to put it out of my misery ....

for your recollection ... just west of the conifer collection 100 yards or so.. is a glacial kettle .. which loosely means.. a very large depression/hole in the surrounding piles of sand ... it is my theory.. that most of the collection is in this hole.. and the winter winds... howl right over most of the collection ... as compared to my wind swept prairie .. just 8 miles away .. and they magically get a multitude of z6 plants .. to thrive.. which i cant ...

which leads me to wonder.. on some of these z6 plants.. if its not winter wind damage [dessication].. as much as minimum low temps measured by zone ... that is the limiting factor ...

who knows.. but i wasted a lot of money buying things that they grow.. that died for me.. whats that all about ...

    thx for the pix

    ken

ps: start a new post titled: a 30 acre blank slate ....

and ask for suggestions.. both here and in the tree forum.. about how to attack such ... you are aware.. that all MI counties have a spring tree sale ... if not.. email me.. and i will link you.. tell me what county ...

It is. I was disappointed by that, too. Took a pic.

Ken, that's the electric fence; it just looks like it's sitting on the bench. More pics later...I'm takin' a nap!

Jonathan, thanks for showing us your nice pics.
Please for next time, write full names, not only cultivar names.
If you write full names all will be more clear for our forum members who are not so familiar into conifers yet.
    Thanks in advance!

Thirth pic from above, you mentioned 'Weeping Silver'.
This is a discription name for the Abies alba 'Pendula'

Pinus sylvestris 'Beuvronensis' could be right for this old specimen.
Pinus sylvestris 'Watereri' is also possible for this one...

Do you have a pic were the Picea pungens 'Sea Blue' is completely visuable?

The Picea pungens 'Koster Pendula' doesn't seem to be the right one.
It's cones and needle colour says Picea abies...
To me the blue one in the left corner looks more like a Picea pungens, maybe somebody switched the tags...

The Picesa omorika 'Pendula' is the wrong one for sure.
This make is often made in the U.S. which started at the National Arboretum
The true cultivar name for that one is 'Gotelli Weeping'...

    Pinus densiflora 'Oculis-Draconis'
    Must be written as 'Oculis-draconis'...

The "not sure" pic shows us a Cupressus nootkatensis.

I hope I helped you with this info...

I knew you wouldn't like that I didn't do full names, but I was tired. Oh well, thanks for the info!

Jon, thanks for posting that pic of the Picea pungens 'Sea Blue'.

I still have problems with Picea pungens 'Sea Blue' and Picea pungens 'C. Blue'...
It seems that 'C. Blue' stands for 'Coors Blue'.
But I don't think that's right because the true 'C. Blue' is a dwarf found by Jerry Morris.
The 'Coors' blue isn't a dwarf, it's a regular growing blue spruce with an outstanding colour.
Imo, the 'Coors Blue' and the 'Sea Blue' are two names for one plant.

Please, check the link of Life Monument of Jerry Morris and search for Picea pungens 'Sea Blue'.
Then watch the pics so you can see what I mean...
