In February we often have strong thaws and the buds begin to flourish. Then again -20C..... But if your plant will be wrapped in something, it will be protected.

But I think you have not at such a low temperature:)

Thank you Ireena. I guess what I'm afraid of is that new growth takes some time to elongate, mature and set the buds for next year. I fear that inside December, with low tempratures and very few light hours this mechanism will be stopped before the final step, so it won't have good-viable buds for next year and it will perish in 2-3 years. I'm not afraid low tempartures that bad.

By the way do you know what your name means in Greek, where it came from? :)

So I guess none has experience with November bud break in Northern hemisphere. I'll see the outcome and let you know. I believe pungens is easy to rebud in the base of this year's growth, so I hope...
