Note the double leader on it, it begins just inches from the ground.

Based on the pics and your zone I would say they are either white spruce (picea glauca) or Norway spruce (picea abies). If any have cones that would be helpful. Also it's hard to tell if the needles are rounded or flat. Spruces have rounded needles, firs have flat needles. Any cones would also help with this determination.

It doesn't look like white spruce, it does look like Norway.

Volunteer Norway spruces are very rare -- at least here. From what I've heard they are more likely to occur further north in the US.

Typical Norway spruce foliage and cones.

Definitely picea abies (Norway spruce). The cones are a dead give-away, white spruce cones are much smaller.

I have quite a few youngish white spruces and norways, and I find they are not that easy to tell apart sometimes. Except for the cones, the only other easily seen difference seems to be their slightly different colors - norways tend to be more of an emerald green and whites tend to have a bit more blue in them.

Once the ground thaws late next March, I will begin transplanting them to a much better site to bulk up for a few years.
