Apparently it hasn't become obvious to everyone yet - yes, Salicaceae is associated with some kind of commercial or academic facility. (I deduced this long before we exchanged emails...nothing wrong with sharing a deduction) Having 2 or 3 commercially untraded rare species is one thing, but nobody has scores of them unless they have connections most of us don't have.

We are lucky he is on here sharing; a lot of people in that position wouldn't bother. I know collectors who are loath to reveal their sources for certain things, or even that they have certain things. There are several close knit groups of people who are trialling various cutting edge plants, the IDS people, for example, being one such group. For the most part they "keep a low profile". Yep, sadly there are too many cases of things being stolen, once details are posted on the internet. So I don't blame them one bit.
