Unique New Year's Eve - In a Greenhouse

I did something really different on New Year's eve. I went to a wedding reception, and it was held in a greenhouse. The wedding itself was also in the greenhouse, though I didn't go to that. The bride and groom, along with their families and friends, had been working all week, clearing, lighting, and decorating the greenhouse, making food, and doing all the things you have to do to have a wedding.

It was quite a cozy experience in the warm greenhouse. The father of the bride is a clever man and did the first toast of the evening, reciting a Dr. Seuss-style poem that he had written about the bride and groom. There was a lot of laughter, and the poor guy who went next said "How am I supposed to follow THAT?", which got more laughs, and he did fine.

All in all, quite a memorable evening.

Sounds like a fun time, how big was the greenhouse, was it in a commercial or home greenhouse?.
We had a very quiet N.Y.E. Did steak and lobster for DH and myself, the bottle of wine wasn't too shabby either :). The family is all away some in Victoria, some in Kelowna and some in Palm Springs sooo the usual beef dip get-together won't be happening this year, kind of looking forward to a laid back New Year's day for a change. Happy New Year everyone.

The greenhouse was commercial size, maybe 30 x 80. It was at a local farm that sells to the public and does farmer's markets in the area. The farm's owner is a past student of mine and so is the bride. Her dad was a fellow teacher.

Your evening sounds perfect, Annette. I like quiet.

What a great way to ring in the new year and how appropriate for the germination of a new life together to be celebrated in a greenhouse!

What a lovely idea, in a greenhouse. I love greenhouses, and could live in one!! I too was quiet, watched TV, had steak and a ceasar salad - and yummy wine. Around here, apparently a fun way to ring in the New Year is to fire weapons into the air(hopefully). VERY lazy today, though I have some phone calls to make.
