Late to the game this morning I've been watching what's happening in Japan. Such a horrendous disaster.

Okay, guess I am the only one who has no clue here. However, judging from comments from the rest of you, it must measure something about plants. I'll check back for more clues (make them obvious, all, I am brain-dead after spending the day so far at school working on student assessment portfolios-ugh-way too much left to do). Then again, I could just wait for the answer tomorrow. :)

From the clues I guess that this has to do with hotness of a veggie, probably peppers.

Greylady, I guess I'm chicken A's and J's are about as high on the scale as I've gone to date but you never know :). Are you growing higher on the scale types?

Annette, last year I grew 'fish' and it was so nice (pretty variegated leaves and fruit) that I decided to 'go big' this year and plant several other kinds. I am growing cherry bomb which is new to me, but I hear it is on the lower end, so I am also growing cayenne and am on the fence about scotch bonnet--it may be a bit high end for me. I love hot, but not sure about that one :)

Scotch Bonnet... I've heard that one's a scorcher, nope I'm not trying that one. I'm looking for one just a tad and a bit hotter than jalopeno.

I tend to grow cayennes and jalapenos. They are apparently killer hot cause of our summers. Cool, eh? Suicide chicken wings leave me with no feeling in my lips for a couple of days - hence my attempt at a clue.

Right you all are! The 16,000,000 represents the hotness of pure capsaicin. Speaking of suicide chicken wings, capsaicin is toxic and could be fatal, although it would take so much that you could probably not eat enough peppers to be a problem.
