OOooo, oooo - I know this this!! I too was actually lucky enough to see it 'in person'! Huge, it is. Wasn't flowering when I saw it, so don't know about the colour. Not sure that I deserve stars for yesterday, cause the clue and everyone gave it away!! But I'll take them.

I don't know this one, even with the clues. The answer to yesterday's came to me before seeing your clue, TM. Don't know if it was a memory or a guess.

Saw some huge trees in TX this winter but nothing that large.

There are a couple of books with this tree in the title, one is a kids' book by (I think, if my memory is correct) Tomi De Paola: Under the _____ Tree. Never knew it had fruit.

The flowers are concealed in the fleshy receptacle commonly known as fig. These figs are grow in pairs in the leaf axils and numerous, tiny blossoms of both sexes and also a host of small insects. These are the fig insects that fertilize flowers. The insect enters the fig through a hole in the top and lays eggs which hatch out and mature. When these insects leave their home, they are dusted with pollen from the male flowers. Now they make their way into another fig, thus ensuring fertilization. Fun. Those are great pics TM. Disclosure: DH's ex was from Hawaii, so of course he would have known (don't tell him I shared that!)!
