Weekend Trivia - Saturday

Happy weekend once again, dear cottagers. Anyone for snow? We got about an inch yesterday, which didn't exactly send me over the moon. It's good to know that it will be all gone in a day or two.

Today's trivia question is probably going to involve a purely wild guess on your part, unless you watched a certain episode of Nova on TV. Ready? How many elevators do you think there are in New York City? Hint: It's probably more than you think. It surprised me.

I watched that episode but I don't remember the answer to yor question. My mind just isn't what it used to be.

Mornin everyone, no snow here yet but it sure felt like it yesterday. As to today's trivia, haven't got a clue but think there must be a heck of a lot of them. So I pulled the figure of 753,908 out of the air just for the heck of it.

Huh, it's more than I think, and Annette's number is really large. Well, for fun, let's say a nice round 1/2 a million - 500,000. That's a pretty big number too. I always forget to watch Nova!!

Mmmmmmm, maybe my guess was too high so how about 601,103 ....and a half for the one that isn't quite up and running yet :).

Fun question. Didn't see the show, so I'll just make a wild guess. I guess Annette's first was too big considering your response, TM and I don't want to pick the same number as Nancy, either-that would be no fun! SO, how about 300,000? Actually, let's make that 327,699 (makes it sound more like I know what I'm talking about)

At first I was going to guess one million-hah! Can't wait to find out tomorrow.

I guess this was a wacky question, and you all would have probably done better without my hint. We all seem to have to have a different idea of a number that is more than you think. No surprise there, I suppose.

I would have figured maybe a few hundred tall buildings and maybe six elevators in each one. Add a few hundred for good measure and get a nice round number of 1000 elevators. And I would have been way low, country boy that I am. The Empire State Building alone has 73. But you guys are way high. The actual number is 58,000.

So no stars today, but you all didn't really have much chance of getting close. Sorry. I'll see if I can do better with today's question.

Actually, I loved it. Got my synapses firing (misfiring?) trying to make a guess as to how many buildings, how many elevators in them, etc., etc. Amazing that there are 73 in the Empire State Buiding-never would have guessed that.

Well you finally skunked us, I knew there were over 70 elevators in the Empire State Building but didn't have the faintest idea on how many there were in New York so I thought what the heck, aim high, pull a figure out of the air LOL.
