Weekend Trivia -- Sunday

Sorry for the delay in posting today's trivia. The grandsons have been keeping us hopping.

Bit of elevator trivia: In 1945 a B-25 bomber flying in fog struck the Empire State Building, severing the cables of one elevator and causing it to plummet 75 floors with its female operator inside. Amazingly, she survived.

Your question for today: Who invented the speed governor and brake in 1852 that made elevators extremely safe?

Hint 1: His last name still shows up on elevators to this day.

Hint 2: Ales hoist I is an anagram of his first and last name.
