| Stay dry, guys - don't drown/or get buried alive. The weather sounds apocryphal!!
Hope you don't get flooded!

It'll miss me Nancy, but Vancouver's going to get it. Annette has a wind and rainfall warning. Libby |

| We've been having some pretty strong winds off and on for awhile now, continuous rain with occasional 15 minute breaks and then downpours thundering on our roof. It's a good thing the earth is still sucking it up though, thanks to the unusually dry year we've just had. Great for our forests so not complaining yet. Since I can't be out raking leaves it's roast beef and yorkshire pudding with all the trimmings for dinner tonight :o). I just made another batch of Lorna's sour cream scones which seem to be disappearing as I type. Annette |

How did you all fair in BC? We've had some pretty crazy rain here too. Sometimes 24 or more hours of solid hard rain. The weirdest was the 500 (at first they called it 100, now the 500) year flood. It was insane. How does the sky hold that much water? |

There's lots of flooding up and down Vancouver Island right now. I think parts of Victoria lost power but we're OK so far where we live. Where our house is we sit pretty high so the most we suffer is maybe some dampness in our basement, but my poor garden is saturated, thank goodness the flower beds drain quickly when the rain stops. Across the street and down a bit of a bank the river (really a stream) is flooding maybe I can get a pic of it tomorrow. Although still mild for this time of year (the pineapple express) the rain is coming down in buckets, the forecast is for more rain, wind and a good possibility of snow saturday and sunday. If this had been snow we've had the last week or so our house would have been buried by now. We've got a nice fire burning in the fireplace right now so it's really nice and cozy. Crazy but the sound of rain drumming on a roof has always been a pleasant sound, now if the roof doesn't spring a leak..... Annette |

| Geez, and now earthquakes - did you feel them, Annette? You were sortof in the middle. What's next, frogs, locusts - you guys bin bad??? Nancy. |
RE: BC members!!

| No we didn't feel this one it was just off the Queen Charlottes further up the coast. Most of the quakes we've had around here we usually sleep through. In 65 the year we moved back to the island we had a dandy, the place we were staying until we could move into the house we had just bought furniture was dancing on the floor and pictures were slapping the walls. When we were still in Ocean Falls a big one hit Alaska DH was down on the dock tending to his boat when the docks started to sway back and forth, at the same time at the house my glass coffee pot sitting on the stove shattered into a hundred pieces, coincidence? the range wasn't even turned on. It wasn't until later we heard about the earthquake. So far most of the earthquakes around here we rarely feel and there has been no damage that I know of. It has stopped raining for a bit, the sun is trying to peek through but will start up again before long. Thank goodness it's too warm for snow, 9*C right now. ....and Nancy, we've been good, honest :o). Annette |

It's just the old Pineapple Express. Warm and wet. Nothing much for me to report. Libby |

This is the little river across the road and down a slope (about 75 yards) from our house, what it looked like before the rain started. If I had longer legs I could probably jump across it in the summer.
This is it this morning, the arrows in the first two pics are pointing at the same spot on the boardwalk.
This third pic is taken looking downstream from the boardwalk.
It was actually a little higher earlier this morning. Annette |

| Glad to here it's residing, Annette. Looks like Courtenay bore the brunt of it. Interesting pics. Libby |

| You know, we get wee earthquakes in the Ottawa Valley, but I've only felt them in the early am - did the earth move for you??? lol. Nancy. |

Duncan and North Cowichan, about a half hour drive south of us has severe flooding, been called a disaster area. Many have been forced to flee their homes. Listening to the news the water came up really fast. Sounds like they didn't have much warning. DH walked down to the boardwalk shown in the pictures I posted earlier, it has a lot of water flowing over it now. We're still high and dry, haven't lost power, more rain in the forecast, maybe snow on monday and tuesday. Annette |

| My friend in Duncan is in the flood area. Luckily, they live in a second floor apartment. I just spoke to her and the waters have receded now. Libby |
