I'm going with amino acids, too. Vegetarians need to make sure they get enough amino acids.

I was going to start the question by saying that I didn't want to be a mean-o, but I thought that would give it away. The answer IS amino acids. Proteins are chains of amino acids, having anywhere from 50 to 3000 of them in the chain. The chains can also coil up, fold up, or otherwise form intricate shapes.

Jim had a good answer too. A peptide is a combo of as few as two amino acids, so that could answer the question as well.

Sierra, maybe LESS in depth. The answer atoms could almost work, but enzymes don't break proteins down that far.

Leasa, poo would be more like what is left behind after the amino acids have been extracted into the blood stream.
