I went out during the day to celebrate an extended Christmas with my side of the family. We always celebrate Christmas on a day other than the 25th to allow everyone to focus on their immediate family that day. We always have a lot of fun and it extends Christmas for us.

I drove home in the dusk, dodging kamikazee deer, and fell asleep listening to the neighbors banging pots and pans and shooting guns off at midnight.

Although it might not sound like an exciting way to spend new years eve (deer-dodging was kind of exciting), it was a good day. :o)

Lois we do the same here we have christmas dinner on boxing day, we've been doing that for a good many years now.

Schoolhouse we stay home too, we had a neighbor who used to let loose with his shot gun at midnight years ago. If anyone let a gun off now we'd probably have a swat team descending on us and the whole neighborhood would be in lockdown, sad how times have changed but that's how it seems to be now. We spent a quiet evening at home, steak and lobster for dinner the wine was pretty good too :). Watched old movies, snacked on mincemeat tarts, saw the new year in then it was off to bed.
It sure nice to wake up NYD without the wee headache one sometimes has after partying just a tad too hard LOL.

My husband and I had planned on going down to the local restaurant (about 3 miles away) to have a drink and visit with some of our neighbors. The twelve inches of snow and below zero temperatures made staying at home a lot more appealing! Maybe we'll try again, on Valentine's Day. You have to pick a holiday, to see most people. None of us get out much anymore, especially in the winter! :)

Annette- You can still shoot guns here, but it was too cold. We called a friend in town, who was outside, with his bonfire (even in this cold) and had lots of his neighbors beating pots and pans in the background...same idea, but less chance of a SWAT team. (LOL)
