So would I. I see no green at all, not like in past Springs. Yikes. Maybe I'm just don't remember it sprouting later. All of it needs divided terribly, but I'm just not up to tackling it, the clumps can be like concrete to break apart.

I put all the dead stalks I cut onto a tarp and dragged them to the veg garden where I burned them. I bent a small armful at a time, they were so long, to fit on the tarp better and pile to burn more safely; and made about four or five trips.

that's how my whole rear flower bed looked this spring. I feel for you, it is a lot of work!

I have at least 9 ornamental grasses that I planted along a border for privacy. I am actually thinking of replacing most of them with interesting shrubs because they make such a mess.

This year I tried burning my ornamental grasses and it was so easy and fast with no clean up that I will never cut them back again. Way too much work and mess.

Burning instead of cutting? That probably wouldn't work out for me given the area they are growing, I might set the brush pile or the field on fire! But it sure sounds like an easier and faster way of doing it.

My grandfather used to set the pampas grass on fire every year. It's not legal here anymore- it's too developed.
