I have always loved oriental poppies, but have never had any luck with them. Your photo is beautiful.

Very beautiful red color. I love the poppies also, but like frogview,
cannot get them to grow from seed. Looks like you have more buds
coming.

Glenda that poppy is luscious, I haven't grown oriental poppies for years, I'd forgotten how beautiful they are.

i think you're right those iris somehow take away from it...but the blue iris is complementary. the poppy is a show stopper.

We passed one of my favorite Atlanta gardens today, and wouldn't you know, they had gorgeous red poppies in bloom! I LOVE them, and I miss them. Can't figure out what the trick is here! I plant every year...and nothing. I love yours, it's beautiful!

That happened to me too- same color iris. And I planted dozens of them- they are not red! I love them, but your red poppy is too beautiful to have the dull irises next to it.

Yep. We are in agreement! This irises will be moved as soon as they quit blooming.

The reds will go just behind in the 'secret' garden side. I have a Grace Smokebush there the the colors with the morning sun shining through are a perfect match.

The brown one has me wondering.They are hard to place, so why do those shades appeal to me so much....only in iris. Strange.

I have all colors of irises with my red flowering poppies. The yellows, whites, blues, pinks, lilacs, plums, oranges, purples, browns and reds make it work and don't sap the red poppies. The set them off...well I think they do anyway.

My poppies aren't blooming yet however. They are a little behind the irises this year for some reason. But, my red, pinks of all hues, yellows, white and orange roses have started to bloom.
