Pretty!

Pretty, and tasty too. Runner beans are my favorite bean. We cant' grow them well here :(

The flowers are so pretty on runner beans so even if you don't eat them they're pretty to look at and the Hummers love them. Scarlet Runners were the only fresh beans we ate when I was growing up. Frenched before cooking, Yummy :). I was given 9 Insuk Wang Kong runner bean seeds in a trade so hopefully I'll get a taste this year but mainly want to grow them for seed. Runner beans don't like heat so mine should do very well, still cool and raining again here, sighhhhhh. Another bean I find that is loving this cool weather is Oregon Giant, it is said you can grow this one in mud.

I normally grow Violetto Trionfo, an Italian purple bean for eating; but this year I decided not to plant any. I have lots of pints in the cupboard still from the canning last year. So I planted the Painted Lady runners for mainly the bloom. I will cook some of the beans though, no sense wasting them all.
