How pretty. Fall is my favorite time of year; may not be as colorful in some areas but yours garden is very pretty.

I love the natural areas. I'm starting to introduce more native plants too. I bet the wildlife appreciates it too.

There used to be more rabbits and birds that nested in the grass and brambles, but I have a cat problem. Some belong to neighbors, some are feral farm cats; then I have one of my own that is inside/outside. I didn't have any bluejays or cardinals nesting in the garden or orchard this year. I remember when the cardinals use to build nests in the lilac shrubs. I miss the privacy I once had in this area (in the photos). Now that leaves are gone from the scrub trees and shrubs along the property line, I can see directly into the neighbor's front and back yards again.

I have that problem too in the backyard. I can see more and more every day. I've been planting evergreens in certain spots to give me some winter cover. My yard isn't as private as I'd like, yet.

Sure looks like fall! What little change we get here is happening now. As I drove to my son's on Sunday I saw flame sumac turning.

Love that winterberry! The berries are so wonderfully bright! I don't think I have seen any around here before... I know what you mean about privacy too. There is a hedge of Elm trees in the back of the yard that block the view of the alley and neighbors. Once the leaves drop everyone can see it! It is especially hard in early spring when you are out starting to garden and the trees haven't even put out buds! Love the mushroom pic too. It always delights me to see mushrooms growing. Thanks for the pics Christine! CMK

First of all, I loved the statue in the old apple tree. Secondly, I thought it was funny when you showed the shroom and said what you said! very nice. I really wish I lived further north.
