It's that time. I need to order my garden seeds from Scheepers, especially the climbing beans! I get the Emerite and purple pole, so there's a mix of lavender and purple flowers...followed by green and purple beans! The purple beans turn green, when you cook them and they both taste great! :)

Schoolhouse- Thanks for the reminder! I just ordered my bean seeds, along with some Milano plum tomatoes. They're supposed to be ripe 60 days after transplant, so maybe I'll get some red tomatoes, this year!

I love the purple beans. I used to plant Violetta, an Italian purple bean for many years. Once I planted those and a yellow wax bean on the same trellis. You can imagine what happened, I got yellowish beans with purple blotches on one half of the trellis. It just got so I wasn't eating or putting away the beans like I should so I took a break. This year I'm trying the lemon cukes on the trellis. I don't know, the trellis is getting a little old and not sure it will support the cukes.

Let's hope for a better growing season this year without too much rain this Spring.

Schoolhouse - have you given any thought to hanging a fluorescent light or two to get your plants started? If you were to hang 3 ordinary four-foot lights from the big box store, you could get four flats of seeds under them, which will hold 288 plants if you use 72 cell trays. As you know well, it's hard to get good plants started on a windowsill. Even one light could help, especially if you could get it over the windowsill to supplement the light there.

Just a thought.
