I think the answer to that will depend on which perennials you have...many will definitely be fine, but you might have some that will be set back. Normally I would say that there shouldn't be any problems, but I know that some areas have been having such abnormally high temperatures that their later perennials could have popped up. If it were me, I would look up my favorites plants and see what is said about frost for those particular plants, and if I couldn't find mention of handling mildly freezing temperatures, would cover just those plants.

I covered as many as I could with either large over-turned pots weighed down with rocks or curtain sheers attached with clothespins. I'm pretty sure I'll lose a few things but hope to avert a total disaster. My Echinacea 'Pow Wow Wild Berry' just started sending up new growth--the leaves are really tiny so those got covered as did my hosta, cushion spurge and hydrangeas. I'm hoping the rest will survive. I had a lot of perennials in pots I wintered over inside my garage that have broken dormancy so I hauled those onto my covered breezeway. I guess I'll find out if tall phlox can handle the cold since most of mine are up quite a ways.

Just received a three-night frost advisory from a reputable local nursery--they're covering everything but their field-grown pansies.

Yeah...this sounds bad. I think I'm going to lose almost everything. Down to 22 until 10:00 am. I bought a bunch of cheap sheets to cover, but it looks like I barely covered anything. Good luck, little plants! :-(

Three nights of frost? Oh my, good luck gardenweed, haven't heard that news for us - yet.
