I am really waiting for the regular Lupines I put in last year to get growing.

My beautiful Lupines rotted at the end of last Fall. I think there may be one left; so that means I will be buying new plants this year. I really can't complain because the first ones lasted four years.

Lupines are lovely, but won't grow here.

It has been weeks, nothing has sprouted yet. I would think that all this rain we have had lately would make them start to sprout.

So I was looking this morning. There are spots were something is germinating. But I can't tell from the leaves what it is. So I did overseed with the annual lulines again.

The lupines haven't come out yet - but here they are from last year - these are dwarf blue that I grew from seed.

Beautiful picture. I love lupines.

They're growing! They're growing! Hurray. I have them sprouted, some plants bigger than others. As I have never tried this I have no idea what to expect but I would love to see a bed of lupines blooming. Of course these annual ones don't have the screaming colors of the perennial cultured varieties.

So here are the annual lupines today. You can just see small flower spikes starting if you look very carefully. If these work out I am hoping they self sow like my California Poppies do.

I live in NC. Will lupine grow here? I have tried to grow them from seed but they die after getting about 3 in high. Thanks.

A few weeks ago I drove through Maine up into Canada. All along the roadways were great swaths of lupines all in bloom. They were gorgeous!!
