Will frost hurt my columbines ?

I have ALOT of different columbines, and every year around this time if a frost threatens, I run out and cover absolutely everything with sheets. I have such large gardens, that a local News channel once nicknamed me the 'sheet lady'. Well...this year I'm just not up to dragging out all the sheets, and my mother informed me this morning that she NEVER covers her columbines. Have I been dragging out the sheets for nothing all these years ? Some of my columbines have buds on them. If need by, I will go out at 2 a.m. to cover them lol, I just wanted your advice. thank you !!!

No need to cover columbines - they are hardy perennials

that all depends on how deep a freeze it could get. A light frost won't harm but a deep freeze could harm soft tissues even on perennials
