All I can do is commiserate, as blue flowers are not the only ones that come out differently from real life, regardless of what setting I have on my camera.
To me, the worst of it is people selling plants, as they must artificially color flowers a truer blue than in life. Most of my flowers described as blue, are nothing like the one you show, or even the color the camera usually reports. Most, sold as blue, are quite blue-violet. True blue flowers are very rare, as it is.

Hi Merilia,..i am another to agree with you and bogturtle,..i use a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 and always have difficulty photographing red roses,..as for blue flowwers i wait until evening time and don't use a flash ever.

Merilla, I understand - my pulmonaria are the most awesome cobalt blue ... but only in real life ... haven't been able to capture it with a camera.

I have long struggled with the difficulty of capturing with a camera the colors and textures of plants. I once had a conversation with an amateur daylily breeder and photographer, who was a pathologist by profession. As such he had examined daylilies on a cellular level to determine just where the color was coming from. He explained that much of the pigmentation is below the surface and perceived by our eyes through light reflecting back up through the petal. Apparently this is something cameras do not capture.

If your camera allows, try to under expose a bit and see it that helps. Reds are hard. But the camera is trying to take all the colors in the image, blend them all together and come out with an 18% gray tone (if you have a spot metering camera it is doing the same thing only the spot) Darker colored subjects will end up lighter and lighter subject end up darker usually.
