Years ago my neighbor and I were walking and saw a gardenia blooming at a vacant house. We each took cuttings.

That original cutting died last year. I just figured up and it was about 28 or 29 years ago that we took those cuttiings.

The plant that is blooming is from a cutting I started for my son spring of 09. When mine died, I kept the plant and started him cuttings this spring.

I was at his house in late March and started the cuttings when I got home. They have already rooted and have two sets of leaves. I used a l liter soda bottle, with the bottom cut off, as a cloche to keep it moist. That has to be a record rooting time!

Due to the size, I think it is First Love and not August Beauty.
