Looooove the bright colors too Kay. I have never seen anyone use straw for a mulch Rita. It is straw, right? It looks good. Is there a particular reason you use it over other mulches? Always the nosey one aren't I?? lol! Judy

Hi Judy- Yes it is straw. Don't use hay as it has too many weed seeds, the straw has very little to none depending on the cutting. I used up the 8 bales I already bought this spring and have to go back to buy more. Planning to go this week.

I find it much easier to use than the real bagged mulches, easier to move and stread around. Plus its cheaper as I use lots and lots of mulch around here. The straw makes a great home for earthworms and of couse eventually breaks down and feeds the soild. Good moisture retention also.

I have used tons of mini pine bark nuggets (over 300 bags this spring) and lots of times I go to a mulch yard and just get truck loads but have never tried the straw. I have also used the pine needles in a few spots too. Your straw looks nice in your beds. Its always interesting to me to see what other people use in the gardens. Strange I know. lol

Oh I Love these last two pictures of the tulipsThey are just gorgeous.I like them much better then the other tulips that are more Open.They look modr like poppies to me.I love these bright colors you have. Just beautiful.
