Beautiful blooms and beautiful butterflies. I never manage to get pictures of the butterflies when they are around here.

I was too far away when I took the bottom pic, but the two butterflies were side by side, so I couldn't resist. There were as many as six of the yellows and three of the blacks at one time, but they are still flitting around a lot since the butterfly bushes and zinnias are not blooming yet.

I have 5 butterfly bushes to bring in the butterflies. I do really like them and they do work. Both the butterflies and hummingbirds like them. But in years were I plant a stand of zinnias, I always notice more butterflies than ever before and always hanging around the zinnias.

Rita, I have five butterfly bushes too, and the butterflies love them and the zinnias...but the favorite butterfly bush is the oldest type. It has never been invasive here, but I know it is in many places. I don't know why they like it the best, but assume it is the nectar.

Years before I ever had the butterfly bushes I used to always have a stand of zinnias and I always noticed the butterflies near them. Then for some reason I quit growing the zinnias for some years and then went back to having them again. By that time I did have the butterfly bushes too so there was much for the butterflies to choose from. But you know I love zinnias. Just so pretty and easy and just keep on blooming.
