Wet ground, fertilizing question

Oakley

We've had some nice spring rains so the ground is pretty moist, has been for over a week. The new flowers are thriving though.

But some of them need fertilizing, especially my Hydrangeas. Does adding more water to the plants hurt them or should I wait until the soil dries out? This question isn't just for Hydrangeas, but other plants too.

Some of the plants I have don't like a constant wet soil and I don't want to make matters worse.
