question re lady bugs

Hi All,

I have a curious situation. I've a lady bug that's been living in my bathroom for over a month now. I do have some orchids and ferns in the room but hardly any insects for this thing to feed on. I do have a scale infestation which I'm keeping in control. I still do not know what it feeds on or how it survived this long.

I've kept it indoors until the danger of snow is over. It's now spring up here & its started to warm up. Some plants are up but I've not seen many insects out and about yet. I wonder if it's safe to release the bug out at this time or wait til later. What should I provide as food?

I have found big patches of them under leaves that have been around the plants in my garden....all alive and doing fine. I would say if you want to release it, then put it under some leaves near the base of a plant. it should be fine.
