very nice Nancy. First photo I think is that of an origami columbine. The last photo - the iris -- does it smell lemony? I have the same kind and it has a mild lemony scent.

What a nice mix of colors. I wonder will they self-seed and be different colors next year? I like the iris too!

I like the purple one in the first picture and the red one in the third picture. Columbines just say cottage garden flower to me, I don't know why. But they really belong in a meadow or cottage type border. Very pretty :-))

Very pretty Nancy, I love columbines, have quite a few even some of the native ones that were here when we bought the place in 65. I have some species, some woodland and a lovely little white and powder blue from DS2's wife's garden. She was digging this one out because she didn't like it, one man's trash is another man's treasure :). I also have some seed of several different colors from a very generous GWer, I must get them planted. I begged another start of the double flowering lily-of-the-valley from her too, I lost mine don't know why, the pink one is growing like gang busters. Annette |

Columbines are so pretty and delicate. Love that first one, such unusual colors. Enjoy your surprise iris visitor.

My columbine came up in April and now it's on its last legs. This is my first time with columbines. I cut the blooms and collected some seeds and clipped dry leaves. It looks like it's trying to bloom again. I am not at all knowing what to expect. Will they bloom again in the fall or through the summer? I am zone 7.
