Do you grow angelonia as an annual or perennial?

First year planting angelonia. I've read that it can be perennial down here. It's so expensive to be grown as an annual, especially in large numbers. I'm basically trying to decide whether to buy more for another bed or use butterfly pentas instead.

I live in Kansas and grow it as annual. I just love this beautiful plant.

We had a coral one come back many years at church, but at home, the purple one seems to have fizzled out after a year :(

The coral is deep, so maybe they do not call it coral...but it's not red, it's not orange... it may be the one they call raspberry but it sure looked a "hot coral" to us. I don't see it listed anywhere as coral, but it was trialed at the UGA gardens many years ago and they gave us a plant to try for them. It was hardy for 2-3 years.

Annual here in zone 7. I have left it to see if it would come back but not a thing. I love it too and have both sizes. Luuuuv them!!!
