heuchera - for a sunny spot

heuchera / heucherella / tiarella and such

in my potager - i would like to plant heuchera and their cousins

i have room for and need eight varieties - a bit of morning and afternoon shade - but and i mean but - noon, mid-day is the hot southern zone 7 sun

please help if you can

    Take at look at Floota's blog. she gives a link for it on the daylily forum. she grows a lot of beauties and has pics and names.

    I would suggest not trying the yellow ones. I had Citronelle and Lime Ricky that lost their part shade when a tree came down and last summer, despite good water, they all looked quite fried. I am in the process of moving them. Heuchera Frosted Violet did fine in the same bed with sun from early morning until about 3 PM.

    I tried some in sun and they burned. They are expensive, so I would try one or two this year and see how it goes.

    They were great when I planted them in a sunny bed in southern CA, but heat any more severe and they burn to a crisp.

    When I first started gardening back in the Midwest I planted them in the shade and the did great, returning every year.

    I'm now in TX and can only dream of them! ;o)
