Unique home with pleasant view....SOLD

A few days ago I started to take the glass candle holders down off one of the shelves in my enclosed garden and had to stop, a little wren had taken up housekeeping in an old hollow form reject of DH's.

He usually uses his rejects for firewood but if I can get my hands on them they're scattered around the garden until they disintegrate.

Today a clematis flower opened and it looked so cute I went and snapped a pic of where this little wren has chosen to raise a family and the bird's eye view she has when she looks out her front door.

Natal, my hubby's a wood turner, the reject was a piece he wasn't happy with and it was about to become a piece of fire wood.
What he calls hollow form is a enclosed bowl with a small opening in the top. All of the wood from the inside is removed through this small opening, hence the name "hollow form".

Here's a photo of one he was happy with.

OMG, that's gorgeous! What type of wood is it? I've seen those at art markets, but didn't know the term. I don't blame you for grabbing his "rejects" ... I would too!

Annette, those pictures are great and I agree with Natal about the hollow forms. The one you posted that your DH liked is amazing!

Natal, maple is DH's wood of choice.

Cyn that piece was made out of maple burl.
