schoolhouse, Sounds like you got some nice new babies. That Achillea sounds really interesting. I need some light yellow. And I really love iris. I had quite a collection at my old house, but only 2 here so far and both of them have already bloomed.

First digging of the year aches I totally understand. I couldn't believe how out of shape I was when I started gardening this year.

I always prefer a light, buttery yellow to the glaring golden hue; it looks good in other people's gardens but I try to introduce cooler colors whenever possible. Now let's hope it really IS a light yellow.

Iris are one of my favorites, too, but keeping the weeds from growing up into them eventually is a chore. Down along the grass path in the orchard I try to not stress out about it too much as long the Iris can thrive and bloom. I agree the bloom time is way too short.

Forget the walking exercises tonight. I'm pooped. And the season has just started.

Been thinking of that new Gooseneck Loosestrife ever since I planted it in the orchard. I'm afraid it's going to be too invasive there like its white counterpart? i.e. taking over. I'm wondering if this variety has the same habit? I thought that's what I wanted, but I've changed my mind as I would rather have the wild woodland plants remain happy there.

So now either I find a place where it CAN spread or I give it away. Hmmmmm.

Well, I guess I should have Googled. Maybe it will be ok where I planted it afterall.
