Rust on Hollyhock

I had this big gorgeous Hollyhock growing in the center of my garden...then I noticed it had rust. The huge lower leaves started to get speckles then shrivel up, and I figured there would be no blooms, the shriveling and dying would continues and almost pulled the plant up and tossed it. Just for the heck of it, I sprayed it with the a spray I was using on roses. It seemed to almost stop the rust. I won't claim that it controls it, but the top leaves are speckled and haven't gotten worse and the plant is actually blooming: Not beautiful, but blooming: I wish I had tried it sooner. It is Immunox and I have had it for at least three years. (the spray, not the hollyhock).
