Believe me those columbines will reseed and you'll have lots more. You'll be pulling out volunteers and transplanting them elsewhere by next year. Columbines are so easy to grow. I found that if you want to transplant some to another location, do it right away and water well for a few days. You'll find them planted next year in places where you didn't plant them as the wind seems to carry the seeds. You will enjoy these plants. Trade for other varieties or buy more varieties. I love columbines!

Your columbines look great! I've also had them bloom their first year and it seems odd to see a tiny plant with a bloom. Columbines do fine in full sun or partial shade - in hot climates they do better with some shade.

This year I have lots of seedlings from the parent plants altho had nothing from the package of seeds I planted last year. It will be interesting to see what colors I get. Mine aren't blooming yet.

They look great for first year plants.
