I think men like flowers, but many don't want to make a big deal about pink and purple flowers. Red and white seem to be 'safe' choices...and maybe golds. My husband's friends always comment on the white flowers I have at the corners of the beds...but don't say much about the pink roses.

Also, red bee balm has such a great/unusual look...one of mine grew 5' tall last year. I think it looks a little sci/fi, which might get them more male attention, too :)

So pretty. I think bee balm have a rather structured unstructured look and they don't see at all girly and frilly. Your combo is so delightful those fresh white daisies with the rich structured monarda.

Lovely lovely lovely.......funny thing, years ago I planted some bee balm, Jacob cline I think. I planted 3 posts, Turned out there were 2 plants in one of the pots, the red one and a purple one.....now about 6 or 7 years later the red has vanished and all my Monarda is purple! I might have to see if I can find some red again, and put it into my red bed or maybe my bed with my daisies and Rudbeckia.

The red 'Jacob Cline' looks great when in full bloom, but once the flowers begin to fade, even with deadheading the foliage, it looks bad (in my garden) compared to the other varieties that I grow...'Raspberry Wine', 'Blue Stocking'.

I sometimes think that my 'Claire Grace' and 'Blue Stocking' merged to make one color...or else my memory is confused about which I planted and where over the years!
