A common visitor to the garden (pic)

| I don't know its name, but this tiny fly (?) is no more than a quarter-inch long and looks rather metallic. I see them often, and they seem almost friendly. Or maybe that's just me. :-)
In any case, I love the way the colors look close up.

| The Nature Forum came through for me (again), and I have a name: It's the Long-Legged Fly, a beneficial insect. Eater of aphids. See? I told you they were friendly! |

| Did you take that photo? If so, how'd you ever get so close to that tiny little creature? Wow! |

| Great close-up photo, Alisande. It's hard for me to like a fly, but that sounds like one of the good guys. I hope it's not one of the ones that buzz around my head in the garden and make me wave my arms like a scarecrow on speed, trying to swat them. ThinMan |

| Nope, this one is very tiny and doesn't buzz. I've had one land on me a couple of times, but they quickly realize their mistake and take off. I've described them as "landing lightly," and I guess the long legs explain that. Auntjen, I was about four inches from him. I've found most insects don't object to me "in their face." Maybe it has something to do with my good thoughts. :-) Here's one that I used in my photo exhibit last month:
