BEAUTIFUL!!!! And you are owned by a bully!!! WhooHoo! Luv Bullies! Mine passed away from a blood disease, ;( I bought a fairey rose at a plant sale and was wondering how big it gets, thanks for the pic, hopefully mine will survive me and look that great one day. Last year I went crazy for lilies and bought a bunch, so will reap the rewards this year! Now I'll be on the look out for veronicas! Luv all your garden art too! Great pics, thanks!

Very nice. You have a lot going on compared to me. I have some of those blooming, but still waiting for the lilies.

That double pink lily is soo charming! All your lilies look great. Do you happen to know if you have soil on the acidic side? Some of my oriental lilies are looking chlorotic and I am wondering if it because my soil isn't acidic enough--I read they prefer it slightly acidic. I've been putting left over coffee on them and am going to try some soil sulfur for next year. The Asiatics and catmint is a great combo. WOnderful how they form a drift of color. Looks like a river of lilies going through the catmint.

Is your pincushion flower perennial? Have you ever tried them as cut flowers? I wonder how they hold up in a vase.

And is that white chelone (turtle head) I see by your cute bunny? Does it stay in bounds for you?

Sorry for the string of questions. I just want to know it all!!

Wow, what a difference a zone makes. My lilies are just barely starting to bud. Sigh. I was just out seeing if the deer have eaten them yet! Need to put up some kind of a barrier around them. But for now the deer have just munched on sunflower stalks.

Calamity, im so sorry about your bully...they are wonderful dogs and im sure she was such a blessing to you!
My fairy rose is about 4 ft tall, these are 2 shoved together, probably 5 ft wide. they overlap, i had no idea they would get so big or i wouldn't have planted so close. But once it starts blooming, look out! i love them, no work required and they are in morning only sun.
Trove of trillium, you sure are right about the zone thing! The weird weather pattern has screwed a few things up too.
I dont know if my soil is acidic, ive never tested mine. My hydrangeas bloom pink tho, so i guess it isnt very acidic? lol im not sure.
The pincushion flower is a perennial (supposed to attract butterflies but i haven't seen any), and ive never tried it in a vase but i do have a bud vase i haven't used yet, so thanks for the inspiration! Ill try it out and let you know!!
And the white plant by the bunny is i believe a campanella ? I cant think of how to spell it... i barely remember planting it ! Isnt that terrible?
    Thanks for checking them out!!!

Lilyfinch- Your gardens are beautiful! The fairy rose is so pretty and what a wonderful little fairy town. Those lilies are lovely! I have to say, all the little statues are so cute, but bunny is still my favorite :)

Absolutely wonderful! Beautiful. I had never heard of catmint until someone posted pictures of it with their roses. Where has this great plant been all my life. I now have several in my garden.

I noticed your great dog right away.

I can grow lilies here, but they are a one time plant. I love the scent of lilies.

My grandparents had two bullies. Not two at a time, but one at a time. Each had an official name, but they always called them Mugs.

LF, thanks for sharing! Your lilies are gorgeous! I have to live vicariously through you with those. I'm so allergic to the smell, which didn't stop me from planting them, but the lily leaf beetle would devour them, then once I had those under control the chipmunks shimmied up them and bit off the buds. Finally the white flag went up and I admitted defeat!! I gave them all away to friends. I love seeing all of yours in the great colors.

Brilliant idea putting catmint with the lilies. It looks like a glorious bouquet right in the garden. Who need a vase?!

Count me in as a lover of Fairy Rose. Yours seems much taller than any of mine. It is just the best workhorse rose in the garden for me. It blooms non-stop from mid to late-June all the way into November. I do nothing to it and it never gets black spot and the JBs don't seem to ever go after it. Love, love, LOVE IT!

I love your photos, the little fairy town is precious and I love the statue of the little elf guy snoozing :)

I think the photo of Clematis "Comtesse de Bouchard" is in a bit of shade, which might make it look more purple than pink in the photo ... beautiful Clematis!

I have a Scabiosa/Pincushion Flower as well, a pink one ... they are such reliable perennial plants but I don't know that I've seen a butterfly on mine either. I have butterflies around the garden, but never noticed them on this plant :)

I love the double pink lily too! Do you know what it's name is?

Thanks for all the info on the plants.

Yes the doggie looks as though he is saying, "I won't dig, I promise!"

Ok, I am going to have to try perennial scabiosa! But, that name makes my skin crawl...lol.
I did pick up some seeds locally, but turned out to be annuals.

Some Scabiosa/Pincushion Flowers are not hardy in my zone 5 ... i tried "Beaujolais Bonnets" (such a beautiful colour) but it didn't come back. Tried another coral coloured one, didn't survive the winter ... tried "ebony and ivory" which also died, but that might have been the location and not the plant. I will be trying that one again somewhere else.

But "Pink Mist" (the one I have) and a purple one "Blue Butterfly" perhaps are fairly common varieties and tend to be much more reliable perennials up here. I think "Fama Blue" is pretty hardy as well.

lilyfinch, love all the pics of the flowers. i love how the lily's and the catmint look together. i'm wondering if it is catmint i see in many gardens in my area. if so it is wonderful and i have to get some for myself.
currently i am battling the lily beetles so i hesitate putting another plant that close. your clematis is beautiful. i would like purple for myself. i have it on my wish list.

your pup is a cutie. is he in his own area or are the gardens in their own area?

Your veronica is so pretty. Spiky flowers are my favorites, and that pink is delicious. I'm in love with your clematis too. Must have that color! Thanks for sharing your garden.

Looooooove it. My fave are the mass planting of veronicas- stunning! Do you know the name of the white one? I have one called 'Icicle' and it didn't impress me much. Yours is so spectacular that I may have to give mine a second chance and put it back in the main garden...
I must echo everyone else in saying how nice your lilies are! That is one plant that always seems to peter out on me.

PS. I want those mushrooms, lol!

Thanks for showing us your beauties lilyfinch

BEAUTIFUL!!! I just planted a spikey veronica last year, 'Royal Candles' I think. I must look for the other colors.
I'm coveting your blue gazing ball, I soooo love blue glass.

Your garden is so far ahead of mine, it'll be another couple of weeks before my lilies bloom, I really enjoyed your pics, thanks for sharing.

Thanks again you guys! Im glad i took pics when i did cause things look crummy now. the heat was just too much too soon!

cziga, you are right , the clematis is in the shade and it is indeed comp. de bouchard (tho my spelling could be off). i find that the colors on my clems are better in some shade, otherwise they just fade. And im sorry, i dont know the name of the lily! :(
Cmk, im pretty sure that is icicle, but i lost the tag... the pale purple is called cinderella something or other. I really love how they attract bees and bloom so nicely! And the mushrooms were handmade and i bought them from an awesome lady at the philidelphia flower show, if i find their card ill email you about it! i love them too.

troveof trilliums, i also hate the name scabiosa! ew! sounds like a terrible disease ...

journalbee, my gardens are either on the outside of his area or in their own fenced off area. he dosnt allow plants in his territory! lol

thanks again everybody, im so glad to be part of this awesome forum where we can all tour each others gardens no matter how far apart we are!
