red and blue brightly colored bug..help

looks sorta like a tiny cricket...bright blue, bright red...I think it is what is eating everything green..what is it..and what can I do about it before it eats me out of house and home...

That is the exact bug annie...He has now been found in Indiana too..three of them buggers...

It is some kind of a Chinch bug.
Maybe even a new species. I found just the two sitings of it - one in England and the other in Massachusetts. I didn't look any further. So you found another siting in Indiana.

For others interested, here is the definition I found:

A bug (Blissus leucopterus), which, in the
United States, is very destructive to grass, wheat, and
other grains; -- also called chiniz, chinch bug,
chink bug. It resembles the bedbug in its disgusting
odor.
