Don't know what the first pic might be...some type of legume type.
2nd pic is good ole chives, with some other plant mixed in.
3rd pic is Dahlia....Bishops children type (gives the purple foliage) and the back plant possibly rhamnus fineline perhaps.

My first impression of #1 is a lathyrus, but I'm not really sure. I looked up the species found in Michigan, and the one I thought it looked like is there, but I also looked up West Branch, and it's not near water, is it?
Although L. japonicus grows in my yard, I planted it there. I'm not sure it would be found at a rest area inland! I told a botanist that I had that plant growing under a large spruce tree and couldn't move it because the roots were covered by asphalt...at that point I was told it couldn't be L. japonicus growing under those conditions. Well, when I planted it the spruce tree was only a foot tall(and 4 feet away), and the driveway wasn't as wide. That was 20 years ago, and it still grows happily. But to get that stand of flowers, someone would have to take careful care of them until they were well- established.
Anyway, enough rambling, and maybe I've given someone a place to start looking.

I think the first is crown vetch, a hardy legume and a ground cover in our area, often used on slopes.

Yes - 1 is Crown Vetch, Coronilla varia. Look it up before you decide if you want to grow it or not. It can become a nuisance.
2. Chives, Allium schoenoprasum.
3.Dahlia

About those lovely yellow dahlias. . . .
They do indeed look like Bishop's Children type, but in my experience it's difficult to purchase the bishop's kids color separated. If you buy them in multiples, usually you get an assortment: some red, some fuchsia, some orange, etc. Even if you buy them singly, whether it's dormant or even plants in bud, it's impossible to tell who's who, colorwise.
That riveting yellow looks to me like Mystic Illusion.
