This looks to me like a fig leaf hollyhock or Alcea Ficifolia. I think Russian hollyhock is Alcea rugosa & is yellow. I
think if you planted seeds from it you would get various colors.Iris

I too love the color of Hollyhock you have.I have never had one that color so if you are trading seeds of this beauty,put me on your list.This is a must have....

I believe I goofed and made a tagging error or switch. I had also winter sown 2 RH's as well as this one. Well, the other 2 just started blooming and are clearly Russian Hollyhocks. They're all in the same bed, and it is possible that the tags came out over the winter and I just jammed them where they had laid come spring time. One of them had a tag for "Zanzibar" (commercial purchased), so I'm going to go with the assumption that this one is indeed "Zanzibar", although I can't find any pictures showing my color. Plus, I would have planted them RH/Zanzibar/RH, unlike my current tagging of RH/RH/Zanzibar. I'm going to be harvesting the seed relatively soon (and chilling to kill any weevils that may show), and I'll email both romando & moonphase when they're ready, and anyone else that would like some.
