We have some progress...

DH and I both took vacation yesterday and painted on the garage. One side is done. Doesn't seem like much, but we did all trim 2 coats. Also one of the gooseneck lights we ordered came today and the color is almost an exact match to the rust trim.

Those are almost exactly the colors my sister's house is painted. It's a Mission house from 1923 and the colors are historically accurate. Your garage looks great.

That's the nicest garage I ever saw. It looks like a house. Do you have living space on the second level? The new color is very nice.

It's charming! And yes, curious minds want to know ... what is on the second floor? A studio? I'm glad that painter is done from there! That looked like an accident waiting to happen. ;)

I am so happy for you guys. You finally got a chance to get some work done and it looks terrific! Oy, what a project you have there though. Don't envy you a bit. It really is looking so nice, you must be very excited to see it coming together. |

For those of you wondering about the "brave" painter, he did have the step ladder well secured to the scaffolding. So not quite as bad as it looked! (But I still didn't look up at him very often while he was up there!) For "inquiring" minds, the upstairs will be a storage area for us. It could easily be finished off as a studio apartment, but we have no immediate plans to do that. Our house is quite old and lacking in storage, we welcome all the storage the upstairs will give us. As for the colors we picked, if you only knew how many trips to paint stores and color combos we considered. The only given was that the siding would be the "grandma" green. The hardest color to find was the rust color. So many of the colors were either too pink or too orange! We wanted to pick up on the brick colors in the house as these colors will be painted on the house too. As far as the garage looking like a house, a lady riding her bike stopped one evening and asked me if she "could ask a stupid question?" She wanted to know if it was a garage or a house?! :-) Especially as we have not taken out the garden along the alley yet and there is no way to drive a car into the garage. That's next on the agenda. No painting this last weekend as grandkids were here all weekend, but DD is planning on coming down later in the week and staying a few days (without grandkids) to help paint.
