It's my favorite! I've always thought it was subtomentosa

Hi girlgroupgirl. I googled subtomentosa, but the petals on that flower
look longer. I think mine is some other kind of native coneflower. I know
I received these seeds from a gardenweb group swap and I winter sowed
then in 2011. I forgot about them and the poor little sprouts were under
other plants almost the whole summer in a milk jug. When I discovered
them I thought these were tough little seedlings, and planted them in the
fall of 2011. I'll probably save seeds, in case I do another group swap
this winter.

Looking online, I think it is triloba....

Im pretty sure thats not a Rudbeckia at all, To me it looks like perrenial sunflower.

or helanthius if you want the latin name. Thats what it looked like as soon as I saw it, it has no leaf habit of any rudbeckia Ive ever seen anyways.

If it is a triloba it will have the 3-branched leaves near the bottom. If it doesn't have that then I'd take silverkelt's lead. She knows a lot more than me!

Ha , ive grown lots of stuff, but Im not a expert in it all, after looking at it again, I think it could be triloba.

BTW I was thinking of heliopsis, not helanthius as the false perrenial sunflower.

In fact went through tons of pics, I think Rudbecia
Triloba is probably the best pet, the flower petals always have that indent, it looks much closer to that , even if the branching reminds me of some of the false sunflowers ive seen, I dont think its that yet, as all of those have a tendancy to lighter cones. or centers.
