I have 'Purple Emperor' and keep it pinched back until July 4th. A few of my planted tips have bleached, but I have a section that is holding up really well and got almost no water during our heatwave of 100+ degrees.

I have to do the same with 'Green Expectations' (not dark) or all of my big sedum will split open. I plant the tips directly into the soil to make more.

Terra Nova sent me 'Chocolate Drop' to trial, but it is only a few inches high at this point. It will be awhile before I have anything to say about it, but the color is really dark.

I'm also looking for a variegated upright Sedum too, come to think about it. I have 'Autumn Charm' but it's going into it's third year and is still small with only 4 stems on it. So I wouldn't call it vigorous. I had Frosty Morn, but it would get half the stems reverted and I'd have to pull them.

'Chocolate Drop'...great name...lol. Thanks Cameron. I have tried pinching back purple emperor but didn't find it helped the one year I tried it. I think I will do half my sedums next year and leave the other half alone and see what happens.
