Rita - I Ordered Iris, too

I have been wanting to dig out the ones along the deck none of which are not worth growing very old floppy varieties. So I ordered a dozen - mostly blues and violets with some pink... This will get that area cleared out with compost added this fall for sure. I'm also going to get some LA hybrid and orienpet lilies in there. There is this nasty weedy grass stuff that need to get really cleaned out first. I have a job ahead of me now - but the promise of new blooms in the spring. :)

Cndy- I think that is a fabulous idea. You didn't say were you ordered but this looks like a list that Schreiners sells. I really love the blues and violets myself and a good pink is really nice too.

Doesn't anyone like BlueJ Iris? I love ordering from them, but maybe it's mostly for people who can't afford Schreiner's. LOL

My iris addiction is on hold right now. An insidious weed (germander speedwell) is choking many of the ones I have, so the plan (ha!) is to dig them up and replant, maybe trying some Preen once I learn how it works.

I only heard about Blue J iris afew days ago. And they have already stopped taking orders for the year. Therefore, I got to the website, saw no more orders this year and never looked any further. I was not interested in anywhere I can't order at the time I want to order.

I do love Schreiners. I know there are many other places out there and this year I am trying some out. Places that don't have pictures of what they are selling are out for me, I don't care if they are really cheap compaired to schreiners. I need my pictures. I shop by pictures.

Alisande, I will bookmark that site. To be honest I was looking up the ones Rita got and just ordered - I didn't shop around at all.

I have only bought a handful of iris over the years. When we first moved in the house a friend brought be a couple huge boxes of them and I got quite an array of colors and varieties and when I was in garden build mode they filled in a lot of corners.

I bought a few and the newer ones are so much nicer in growth sturdy stems and bigger blooms. I have been trying to eliminate the ones that aren't as nice - I dug up a huge clump or two literally as they were blooming and flopping this spring.
