Whats left in the drought..

Its been decades since we had so little rain in a summer period..

Ive pretty much given up on stuff for the year.. roses and dayliles are pretty much spent, lost stuff to the heat and dryness, jbs on the usual munching destruction path etc..

Anything I get now is just bonus I figure..

My one and only Hibiscus that the deer somehow forgot to eat earlier...

Comos, the orange type didnt seem to mind the dry heat.. the larger version, not so much..

Pretty much all wrapped up, some new england aster left and maybe a couple rebloom of some modern roses, but the jbs been eating those quickly...

I had a terrible year too. We only got a few inches of rain while the temperature averaged in the mid 90s for weeks at a time. The rain clouds never came. Finally, it's been raining a little. The damage is done though. So the plants that made it this summer will become the backbone of my wintersowing next year. I've been taking notes of what I really like. And collecting seeds when they ripen. I've got some holes to fill.

We're pretty much fried here in Dallas, too, at this point just trying to keep things alive and be able to pay the water bill I'm soon to receive!

It's interesting to me all the challenges of the different areas, am becoming convinced we're all a little crazy, but I'm addicted and come October I'll be glad I stuck with it. Hang in there!

Well you can say you got 3 for 1 deal.Who else has a JB,an albino spider and butterfly all on one plant/flower.Look on the bright side.LOL.LOL

Looks better than my yard. How much water does the cardinal flower need? I have one in a pot by my pond; I am letting it sit in water. Does it require staying wet? Mine doesn't look that good, but I bought it on sale.
