Foxgloves in a warm climate

I often read your posts on this forum. Sometimes it is bittersweet as I admire the flowers that I can no longer grow, since I moved from the south of England to the island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea.
I was reading Kathi's comment on Glengarry's July blooms thread about not being able to grow foxgloves in southern California.
Two years ago, I decided to try a few foxgloves.
I had no idea if they would grow or not here, so I just tried a few of Digitalis purpurea alba. I put them in the shade of the apricot tree and they did wonderfully.
So much so that they have seeded profusely. So I look forward to an even bigger show next year.
So, Kathi, it is worth trying again. Keep them in the summer shade and they should do well.

Your gardens are lovely! I've been to Crete and my son, an archaeologist has been on two digs there. I'm so surprised by your lush garden filled with flowers. Beautiful!
