She made it! I have been watching the buds worrying that the frosts and freeze would kill them before they opened but I think she is going to make it very soon.

The anticipation is sometimes better than the bloom itself. It's a love/hate thing for me. :)

Hope you get to see it bloom.

You are blessed to have a reblooming iris that is really reblooming! Mine that are supposed to rebloom have not done it yet. Maybe next year.

That is so neat Glenda! For the longest time I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a re-blooming Iris. Thanks for sharing pics. I notice you didn't cut down the foliage...is that something you have to do with these particular kind? so they can get enough energy for reblooming?

How do you like to use them? One doesn't normally expect to see Iris blooming in fall, I would have a hard time placing them!
Thanks again.

It looks beautiful! What a fabulous color for a garden. I love irises and think the foliage looks so nice as a contrast to so many other flowers' foliage. I have not seen the reblooming irises for sale anywhere around here, but have been looking. Congratulations!

Glenda, what a great color! I have a number of re-blooming Daylilies but not any iris. I know the iris wouldn't perform in my garden if they are blooming this late in yours. We have had so many hard freezes and snows already. Lucky you!! I'd love to see it again if it fully opens.

RE: Another Iris

I never cut down iris foliage.....period. My gardens are pretty informal. When something is done and looks bad it just remains. Now, I do pull all old, drying and dried foliage from around the base of iris so the rhizomes can get direct sunshine on them. Also I don't let them go into winter with leaves and debris around the base. I have had too much trouble with rot because of all the rain so I try to keep them dry.

My rebloomers don't always! Conditions have to be just right; not really sure what those are, but this fall and late summer have been cool and pretty wet. I have another clump of Dashing getting ready to bloom, but no sign of Clarence.

Some of the iris moved in my great dividing frenzy two years ago have not yet bloomed even for the first time.

Surely next year they will.

We have had rain for 36 hours now; now heavy but enough I haven't been outside much.

I will check today to see if Suky has opened fully.

Very pretty. Blues and lavenders are my weakness. You are right the conditions have to be just right for reblooming.
