Black Eyed Susan 'fulgida' under soil

I just planted a lot of bulbs and in the process dug up a huge mound of soil. I placed it on a board but some covered a portion of my black eyed susans. I now cannot find them and have since given up. Is there anyway the root system is strong enough for them to push back up in the spring, or will the crowns of the small plants rot? I and curious as they are so amazing as sending out runners that I believe they might be able to just send up another shoot. Any thoughts?

If there is less than 2 inches of soil, I'm sure they'll find a way to come back. Probably could take even more coverage and come back. In my yard they're practically weeds. Good luck.
