why doesn't GW get rid of the separate galleries?

I truly wish that folks wouldn't post on the gallery side of the forums since I think that many folks are like me and just never check there. Threads usually have a mix of photos and conversation, so I think that the gallery/conversations divide is artificial and dates from early days when getting photos into GW was a chore and connections speeds were much slower than today. With the recent changes in the web, and changes in GW technology that allow uploading directly, the gallery side seems to me to be unnecessary, and having the split makes a forum that isn't getting a lot of hits seem even slower and further reduces traffic. I have a slow connection and it will still allow photos to load, so I don't think that this should be an issue for most folks. So consider this a plea to use just this side of the forum.

Just my 2cents.

I agree totally , for this forum. It's nice in the rose forums tho !
I do check periodically because you never know ! Something fun may pop up there .
A while back I emailed GW about becoming mobile friendly with an App. The response was very friendly and indicated there would be an App and we would be able to save favorite categories . Maybe then they will streamline things ! :)

Having worked in IT, I accept that change comes slowly. I don't do Facebook and rely on GW for my daily Internet gardening fix. I monitor several forums and would like a simpler way to upload photos but stopped 3+ years ago due to my laptop crashing & losing Photoshop.

I'd have to agree the separate galleries are a waste of effort.

In some forums, people don't like too many posts with pictures. I can understand this attitude in a forum such as the rose forum, where there are many posts only with garden pictures. Not having the Gallery there would tend to overwhelm the posts that only want info about rose care. However, in most other forums, there aren't that many posts, and posting in the Galleries is almost a waste of time since few people seem to actually view the posts in the Gallery.
